photog predictions for 2009

i was expecting something more from the camera manufacturers this year.

slr
i thought i will be seeing SLR with video capture for one due to live view becoming omnipresent in slr (because of amateurs jumping from point and shoot to slr) but I guess it's too much to ask (since it also needs it's own lens I guess) . I thought Foveon will get wider adoption or at least it's image processor from sigma will get updated.

digicam
i thought there will be more of optical image stabilization, 1080p video recording (with hdmi output), wi-fi, all-weather type.. still, we only get 1280x720 and it's not even high def (except to casio ex-f1)

they have bump up media cards though... but none of them are still available in local market.. actually, i haven't even a 4gb sdhc in malls when there is a 16gb already available online (third world sh1t)

for now my favorite (on paper) is casio ex-f1, an image stabilized full manual camera that can capture 1080p60 h.264 videos and more.. i hope the final one can capture in infrared.. and next time a bigger sensor (and photosites)

nikon d40 (not announced in pma 2008, this is an old slr)
an old camera but the best entry level (i am not a fan of live preview, sir you should get a digicam).. i know where to get this slr here for 23k with lens kit.. only problem though is that it only accepts af-s lens which means if you mount other nikkor lenses you won't have autofocus (be the expert, cameras don't have autofocus right?).. well thats what you get for the price... i dont like the newly release d300 (almost the same sensor with d40->d80) and it only bumped its megapixels twice and placed a faster processor and mount for more nikkor lenses (and ok that lcd on top)

Mag-Aksaya Tayo ng Kuryente sa Opisina!

panay reklamo sa opisina. kaya para makaganti, nag-aaksaya sila ng kuryente. iniiwan nilang bukas mga pc nila bago sila umuwi. para magbayad daw ng malaking kuryente. yun na lang daw ang pinakaganti nila.

Ear Ring

You see, I never liked ornaments - object that enhances another object. I do admire creativity though, when we create things and embellish with the expected and the unexpected and either create an unnamed masterpiece or enhance an old one. Grown ups - as they like to be called - continually do these. Endless tinkering of their cars, endless redesign of houses, endless revamp of closets because Grown ups thought that these things that they're flashing describes them or their personality or their outlook and they like to label it as their "dream come true" for a moment and then be enslaved by it the next.

I have been hated, for not letting my precious daughter's ears pierced before she got out of the hospital and then everytime we go back after boost shots. And I have heard several malicious feedbacks like "I can't afford to buy an ear-ring - even silver" and relate it to "we married earlier (than the society suggests)".

My daughter, the unannounced leader of the household of three, holds beauty like all of us. Let objects decorate objects. I don't want her to be corrupted - that's the thing that I could not afford. Hey, I would let her choose eventually by the way. Probably when she's in her teens. When she makes up her mind when she's old enough to make her decision that she wants her ear's pierced (for most likely the wrong reasons - to belong) and it will hurt. It will hurt.

Amazing Tech

We have so many new gadgets out today. Pressed as to "destined to make our lives easier" or "how did we ever got through our lives without it". There's multimedia players, mp3-pda-digicam-phone, HDTVs and much more.

I am amazed by the fact that years later, how so much adopted these techs will be in every household. Disturbing huh?

It has been my life's dream (or nightmare) to figure out why they are so much suffering in this world. Or why after so many years of research and development we still see ourselves dying from TB, or in hunger or in war.

As always, I refuse to be victimized by these. I am never helpless. There is something that I could do. But, I cannot do it alone. Everyone must help. Stop feeling like as if you cannot do anything about it.

The End is Near

I am 23. From that moment, when I shifted from one workplace to another, when I start to belong in one of the oldest in my officemates, I realized that I am now old.

We are a family of world class graphics designers, doctors, nurses, engineers, entertainers, overseas workers, call center agents, social workers and so much more.

we bring our Country credits from our diverse talents, had contributed our time, and make businesses more efficient.

But, after all these hardships - We fell prey to lavish lifestyle, coffeeshops, cell phones, fast cars. Just after we receive wire transfer we buy the latest gadget, get wasted every friday, shoes-dresses-hats (), or whatever you fancy that you felt you lack when you were growing up.

And we're wondering why life gets so complicated. Or why we haven't got time for the person who has requested just one phone call (see, not even a get-together).

Just when we have been given rewards from outside our country, we throw them back at them.

Now, you can add it to how you rule one's stupidity. By seeing the things he bought.

The kind of buyer I am

Never ask my opinion if you want to buy something. Because I am always satisfied with the things I bought.

I bought my computer which is only 16k or 330USD. It has all the things I need then and the things I wanted like my dream monitor. It also has DVD writer which is now a wise buy where its now only 4 cents per 100MB.

Still, I don't want to buy integrated gadgets. I still believe that it should have separated chipsets per device. I still think that 4 megapixel digicam is still good for everyday use but wanted for it to have a superb response time (for my growing baby). I still wanted a no-frills mobile phone (of which I read lately, outsells wii, ps3, ipod, and zune altogether - a real cash cow).

Even if I'm in the IT, I don't see any reason why I should get a laptop. Flash drive would suffice for now.

And for every purchases I made, I never regretted if I bought it at the wrong time because prices have gone down or there's an upcoming sale etcetera. Because I only purchase tech based on need and not based on marketing which "creates a need" for such tech.

If price and timing is what you're goin to ask me, I will still go with the entry level tech in the market JUST WHEN they upgraded their "top-of-the-line" with a newer tech.

Since I'm at it, I believe I read somewhere that Intel is having a sale on their hyperthreading (the all hype, no show) and older core duo processors on third quarter this year. It's having a 3ghz all in for 10k or 200USD.

Update: I just read about the bugs of intel core 2. another reason of not buying the latest

I am amazed by your power. I am in fear with mine. Each time I try to use it the best way I can. I have lots of things to learn and only by being humble I can attain a better me. By having this tool, we all can be better. We just have to use this power the only way it should be used - the right way.

This tool has been multiplying our power. Penetrating imaginary boundaries, reaching out from my end to your end.
